Fun Down on the Farm

We made plans a while ago to visit Denver Downs Pumpkin Patch with Hadley and Griffin this year.  I was a little worried last week because Hurricane Matthew was causing all sorts of weather-related stuff here and I didn't think we were going to get to go.  Fortunately, the weather was beautiful on Saturday and it wasn't even muddy.  It was just a bit overcast with a nice breeze- perfect pumpkin picking weather!

We have gone to Denver Downs for years now.  The first time we went was the weekend we got back from our honeymoon- and we've gone every year since then.  Last year, we took just Hadley because Griffin wasn't born yet!  He made is grand entrance into the world just a few hours after we left the pumpkin patch.  I was in labor while we were there!  So this year was extra special because now our boy was with us and he was walking!

They always have a theme and this year's theme was Peanuts (like the cartoon!).  Like Lucy, I'm always willing to give my opinion:

When we got there, I immediately got pictures of my babes because I've learned if I want them to cooperate for pictures, it's best if I have something to bargain with, haha!

You want to go play?  Well sit here and smile first and then we will play as long as you want!

Hadley had so much fun.  She wanted to see the baby animals (a 4 week old calf and 6 day old piglets!), slide down the big slide with her Daddy, see the pig race, play in the play area, eat cotton candy-- the girl wanted to do it all!

I was very proud of her, too.  The slide is a big slide in a tunnel and her Daddy went with her the first few times.  She's a little timid when it comes to new things, but she made up her mind to go down the slide by herself and she did.  And once she conquered that, she went down by herself over and over again.  I think she was proud of herself, too!

It was Griffin's nap time, so he walked around a little, but mostly sat on the ground and wanted to be held.  My sweet boy fell asleep on his Daddy's shoulder and got a pretty good nap in.

We ate some BBQ for lunch and headed to the pumpkin patch.  Hadley knew exactly what she wanted and she was a girl on a mission.  She marched right on in and started picking out pumpkins!

Griffin wasn't quite sure about the pumpkins in the beginning, but he warmed up nicely to them!

Before we left, we grabbed a family picture by the pumpkin patch. We can't wait for next year!

One for the Books!

I was so excited last week, I think every blog post I wrote mentioned I was headed back to Clemson for the game this past weekend.  And y'all-- it did not disappoint!  I graduated from Clemson and it's just like a second home to me.  I spent a lot of great years there, met my husband there, and my best friend, too!  Essentially, the foundation for the rest of my life began there, ha!

Anyway, it was a beautiful day for football!  The game didn't start until 8pm but we got there bright and early (10:30am) so we could tailgate, spend some time at ESPN Game Day, and walk around downtown a bit.

*Obligatory "we're on our way" car selfie*

Clemson played Louisville and it was a huge #4/#5 match-up, so it was a big game!  ESPN has come to Clemson frequently in the last few years and it's always an exciting time.  I'm not sure how many people actually watch Game Day, but at the end of the broadcast, they always pick who they think will win the game.  Lee Corso always dons the mascot head of whichever team he chooses.  When it comes to Clemson, anytime Corso chooses against us, we win.  Anytime he chooses us, we lose.  So when he pulled out that Clemson Tiger mascot to put on , the entire crowd booed!  Hysterical, I tell you! #corsocurse

We set up our tailgate, ate some snacks, and hung out for a bit, but we honestly walked around a lot Saturday.  We had lots of friends we wanted to see and we couldn't leave the babes for an entire day without bringing them something back, so once we fueled our bodies, we headed out.

*Mommas and their boys...love this little boy smiling at his Mom!*

*Game Day with my creeper of a husband*

*The pretty lady on the right is the reason I went to Clemson!  She used to take me to the mother/daughter days until Em was old enough to go.  I used to babysit Em when she was one and now she's a junior in college...what?!*

*Baby snugs*

Surprisingly, 8pm came pretty quickly.  We used to have season tickets and gave them up when we had Griffin, so we haven't been to campus in a while.  It was nice to be back and the day seemed to just fly by.  Our seats were in the West End Zone, like 9 rows up from the field--pretty perfect!

*Love the guy mean-muggin us in the back....dude, I'm a girl.  I take pictures instead of watching football.*

It was an amazing game.  Amazing.  It pretty much came down to the last play of the game and Death Valley was electric.  We didn't get home until really late (or really early!) and we were walking zombies Sunday, but man, was it worth it!  #corsocurse no more! :)

And while we were at the game, Grammy kept the babies for us!  Hadley had a birthday party for a little friend from school and Grammy took both kids!  She said they were great and I think all involved in that set up had a great time.

*It was a fireman theme, so they had firetrucks and water hoses out there!

*Blue-eyed handsome boy*

All in all, it was a weekend for the books. I didn't take nearly enough pictures (the sign of an awesome weekend!)  and now we are kicking ourselves for getting rid of our season tickets! :)

Fall Decor

We moved into our "new" home in the middle of May, although it's not really a new home.  It's actually >50 years old!  The previous owners had done some updating, but there is still quite a lot to do.  With two kids, getting things done has really been put on the back burner.  So, it's our home, but it doesn't quite feel like home yet.

But, I did put out some fall decorations and that has made it feel more "home-y"!

Our downstairs half-bath is "dressed up" with some target pumpkin candle holders and scarecrows!

We recently painted our living room fireplace white.  There was a lot of yellow stone under there and it was not my favorite. The brown cover is a foam covering the old owners left for us which is amazing.  The stone underneath is also white, but with two mobile kiddos, we left the foam pad on top for now!  I really think I'd like to get some throw pillows to sit in front of the fireplace.

The two blank picture frames will be great for fall and I can easily transition them into holiday decor!  I've ordered some square photos of my babies, so those will go up there when they arrive.

A simple leaf wreath is hung up next to our pantry cabinets in the kitchen.

The chalkboard is also on a wall in the kitchen, near the kitchen table.  I change it depending on seasons.  Sometimes there are bible verses up there, birthday message, etc.

This rug from Target sits by my sink in the kitchen.  I love it!

Our front door isn't covered so I'm hesitant to put wreaths out there and risk them being ruined by the elements.  So this cute pumpkin hanger is out there right now!

I have a small, decorative piece for each season for my babies doors.  Hadley's room has a twig wreath with flowers on it and Griffin's is just a small, plain twig wreath.

Obviouly, we have no paint on our walls yet, no curtains up, and a lot of home-making to still do, but the decorations definitely make it feel more like home to me!
