Griffin sleeps in a sleepsack. He's probably old enough for a blanket now, but it's routine and when it's on he knows it's time for bed.
Anyway.
We went in his room and he looked at us sleepily, smiling and cooing like all 11 month old babies and wanted to be picked up. Of course I obliged and strolled over to the changing table to take of his sleep sack and change his diaper.
This is where things took a turn. For the worse. I'm still having flashbacks full of terror.
I unzipped his sack and, no lie, a spider crawled out of his sleep sack. Actually, it was still crawling around in his sleep sack.
Let's step back for a minute and discuss the fact that I hate spiders. I don't just hate them, I am pretty much deathly afraid of them. I'm not sure I'd call it a true phobia, but it's up there on the scale. I feel the same way about spiders as Ron Weasley except I wouldn't have followed a trail of spiders anywhere.
So, here is this spider crawling around in a sleep sack with my baby- who is still in there while my daughter rocks unknowingly beside me. I was trying so hard not to scream so I wouldn't scare my kiddos, but I was crying y'all! And kept repeating "Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh." I got Griffin free of the sleep sack and quickly as possible without flinging it around because, hello, I didn't want to take my eyes off the thing lest it jump on me or get lost in my house because then I'd just have to burn it down- and husband would probably not be too happy with me.
Once Griffin was free, I tried to smash the thing a few times and it wouldn't die. It just kept crawling around faster and faster with it's long, pointy legs and freaking me out even more. I finally found something heavy enough and smashed the crap out of the thing.
Of course, by this time, Hadley is rolling on the floor laughing and thinks it's just hysterical and tries to turn off the lights...yes, let's please release the rest of his brethren in the dark to eat me alive for just killing him.
Basically, I died today. And I died every time anything brushed any part of my body for the rest of the day. It was terrifying. Oh--and it did bite my baby's sweet little leg, so we are watching it for swelling, etc.
And now here we are. Brangelina is no longer a thing and a spider crawled out of my baby's sleep sack after an entire night. I'd say I need to just go back to bed ad re-do the day but--I'm afraid there may be spiders in my bed!
This is giving me chills. Madeline sleeps in a sleep sack, too. We just moved from a new construction house that had not one bug ever to an older home and I feel like I am constantly on the watch for things trying to sneak in. Oh hell no, spraying my whole house for spiders today.
ReplyDeleteYes! I still haven't recovered. We moved to an older home in May so I've been dealing with bugs for that long! I'm not sure the people who used to live here ever sprayed for bugs.
